चतुर्भुजे चतुर्वक्त्रसंस्तुते परमेश्वरि । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥२०॥ चतुर्-भुजे=oh four-shouldered(voc. fem. sing. भुज) चतुर्-वक्त्र-संस्तुते=four-armed-worshipped(voc. fem. sing. संस्तुत) परम-ईश्वरि=oh ultimate goddess रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. देवि भक्तजनोद्दामदत्तानन्दोदयेऽम्बिके । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥२४॥ देवि =  oh goddess भक्त-जन-उद्दाम-दत्त-आनन्द-उदये = oh "faith"-people-extraordinary-given-happiness-"causes a rising(fem. sing. voc. of उदय)" = oh Who Gives Rise to an Upsurge of Unbounded Joy in the Hearts of the Devotees. अम्बिके = Oh Ambika रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Ambika, Who Gives Rise to an Upsurge of Unbounded Joy in the Hearts of the Devotees. Verse 25

भार्या मनोरमां देहि मनोवृत्तानुसारिणीम् । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥२ भार्याम् = wife (acc.) मनस्-रमाम् = mind-"one who pleases (acc.sing. fem. of रम)" =  Beautiful देहि = give मनोवृत्त-अनुसारिणीम् = "mental disposition"-"one who follows(acc. sing. fem. of अनुसारिन्)" =one who matches mental disposition रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies O Devi, Please Grant me a Beautiful Wife matching my Mental Disposition, O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 26

तारिणि दुर्गसंसारसागरस्याचलोद्भवे । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥२६॥ तारिणि = oh the one who makes someone cross over (voc. sing. fem. of तारिन्) दुर्ग-संसार-सागरस्य = of difficult-"worldy existence"-sea दुर्ग-संसार-सागरस्य तारिणि =  oh one who helps cross over the Difficult Ocean of the Samsara (Worldly Existence). अचल-उद्भवे = oh "mountain/unmoving"-produced(fem. voc. sing. उद्भव) = oh one born to the mountain king रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Durga, Who took Birth from Mountain (i.e. daughter of mountain king) and Who Enables us to Cross the Difficult Ocean of the Samsara (Worldly Existence). O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 27

इदं स्तोत्रं पठित्वा तु महास्तोत्रं पठेन्नरः । सप्तशतीं समाराध्य वरमाप्नोति दुर्लभम् ॥२७॥ इदम् = this स्तोत्रम्=stotra पठित्वा=having read तु=indeed महास्तोत्रम्=great stotram पठेत्=should read नरः=man सप्त-शतीम्= having 700 सम-आराध्य=having revered equally वरम्=boon आप्नोति=receive दुर्लभम्=difficult to obtain Having Read this Stotra (i.e. the Argala Stotra), one should then Read the Great Stotra (i.e. the core Durga Saptashati), This Stotra (i.e. Argala Stotra) is Equally Revered like the Saptashati; By Reading this with Devotion, one Obtains difficult to obtain Boons.

Verse 19

प्रचण्डदैत्यदर्पघ्ने चण्डिके प्रणताय मे । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१९॥ प्रचण्ड-दैत्य-दर्प-घ्ने = great-demon-pride-killer(fem. voc. sing. of घ्न) चण्डिके = oh chandika प्रणताय = for the humble one (masc. sing. fourth case of प्रणत) मे = for me प्रणताय मे = for me who is humble रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि =  Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Verse 18

 देवि प्रचण्डदोर्दण्डदैत्यदर्पनिषूदिनि । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१८॥ देवि =  oh goddess प्रचण्ड-दोर्दण्ड-दैत्य-दर्प-निषूदिनि = oh strong-"long arm"-demon-pride-destroyer(sing. vocative case fem. of निषूदिन्) => oh Destroyer of the Mighty Pride of the Excessively Violent and Powerful Demons. रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Durga, Who Destroys the Mighty Pride of the Excessively Violent and Powerful Demons. O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 17

विद्यावन्तं यशस्वन्तं लक्ष्मीवन्तञ्च मां कुरु । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१७॥ विद्या-वन्तम् = education-endowed यशस्-वन्तम् = glory-endowed लक्ष्मी-वन्तम् = wealth-endowed च = and  माम् = me (acc.) कुरु = do रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. O Devi, Please Make me Full with Knowledge, Please Make me Full with Glory and Please Make me Full with the attributes of Lakshmi (Beauty and Prosperity). O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 16

सुरासुरशिरोरत्ननिघृष्टचरणेऽम्बिके । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१६॥ सुर-असुर-शिरस्-रत्न-निघृष्ट-चरणे = oh god-demon-head-jewel-rubbed-"having feet (vocative singular of चरणा)" => oh goddess with feet where heads, adorned with jewels, of gods and demons are rubbed/subdued अम्बिके = Oh Goddess Ambika रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Ambika, To Whose Feet the Devas Rub (i.e. Touch) their Heads adorned with Jewels out of Devotion, and To Whose Feet the Heads of the mighty Asuras adorned with Jewels get Subdued. O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 15

विधेहि द्विषतां नाशं विधेहि बलमुच्चकैः । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१५॥ द्विषताम् = of (my) enemies/haters (plural sashti vibhakti of द्विष्) नाशम् = destruction विधेहि = bestow (sing. second person of विदधाति) बलम् = strength उच्चकैः = loud (indeclinable) रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. O Devi, Please Destroy my Enemies; O Devi, Please Give me Great Strength, O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 14

विधेहि देवि कल्याणं विधेहि विपुलां श्रियम् । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१४॥ विधेहि = bestow (sing. second person conjugation of विदधाति) देवि =  oh goddess कल्याणम् = welfare विपुलाम् = abundant श्रियम् = propserity (sing. acc. of श्री) रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.  O Devi, Please Bestow on me Good Fortune; O Devi, Please Give me Abundant Prosperity, O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 13

देहि सौभाग्यमारोग्यं देहि देवि परं सुखम् । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१३॥ देहि = give (imperative singular second person of ददाति) सौभाग्यम् = good fortune आरोग्यम् = health देवि = oh goddess परम् = ultimate सुखम् = happiness रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. O Devi, Please Bestow on me Welfare and Prosperity, along with Health and freedom from Diseases; O Devi, Please Give me the Highest Joy, O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 12

चण्डिके   सततं   युद्धे   जयन्ति   पापनाशिनि  । रूपं   देहि   जयं   देहि   यशो   देहि   द्विषो   जहि   ॥१२॥   चण्डिके = oh Chandika सततम् = always युद्धे = In war जयन्ति = oh victorious one  पाप-नाशिनि = oh sin destroyer रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Chandika, Who is Always Victorious in the Battles, and Who is the Destroyer of all Sins. O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 11

स्तुवद्भयो   भक्तिपूर्वं   त्वां   चण्डिके   व्याधिनाशिनि  । रूपं   देहि   जयं   देहि   यशो   देहि   द्विषो   जहि   ॥११॥ स्तुवद्भयः = for those who praise (pl. dative case. स्तुवत्) भक्तिपूर्वम् = faithfully त्वाम् = to you त्वाम्  भक्तिपूर्वम्   स्तुवद्भयः = for those who worship you faithfully चण्डिके = oh chandika व्याधि-नाशिनि = oh disease-destroyer रूपं   देहि   जयं   देहि   यशो   देहि   द्विषो   जहि = O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. O Devi Chandika, those who Praise You with full Devotion, You Destroy their Diseases and Ailments. नतेभ्यः सर्वदा भक्त्या चापर्णे दुरितापहे । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१०॥ नतेभ्यः = to the people who bow (past participle of नमति) सर्वदा = always भक्त्या = by devotion च = and अपर्णे = oh Aparna दुरित-अपहे = oh evil-remover (fem. vocative sing. अपह) रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Aparna (another name of Devi Durga) to Whom the Devotees Always Bow with Devotion and who Keeps Away the Devotees from Sins, O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.

Verse 9

अचिन्त्यरूपचरिते सर्वशत्रुविनाशिनि । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥९॥ अचिन्त्य-रूप-चरिते = oh "beyond thought"-form-"one with action"(voc sing. चरिता) = oh one Whose Form and Acts are Beyond Comprehension सर्व-शत्रु-विनाशिनि = oh all-enemy-destroyer (vocative singular विनाशिनी) रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. Salutations to Devi Durga Whose Form and Acts are Beyond Comprehension, and Who is the Destroyer of All Enemies. वन्दिताङ्घ्रियुगे देवि सर्वसौभाग्यदायिनि । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥८॥ वन्दित-अङ्घ्रि-युगे = oh worshipped-feet-"having a pair"(voc sing युगा) =  oh one with the Pair of Feet praised by All देवि = oh goddess सर्व-सौभाग्य-दायिनि = all-fortune-giver(voc sing दायिनी) = oh Bestower of All Welfare and Good Fortune. रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. निशुम्भशुम्भनिर्नाशि त्रैलोक्यशुभदे नमः । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥७॥ निशुम्भ-शुम्भ-निर्नाशि = oh nishumbha-shumbha-expeller => oh destroyer of demons nishumbha, shumbha त्रैलोक्य-शुभ-दे = "tri-worldly"-auspicious-giver => oh Bestower of Auspiciousness in the Three Worlds. नमः = salutation रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.
