ध्यानम्

ॐ बंधूककुसुमाभासां पञ्चमुण्डाधिवासिनीम्।
स्फुरच्चन्द्रकलारत्न मुकुटां मुण्डमालिनीम्।।
  • बंधूक-कुसुम-आभासाम् (Terminalia tomentosa)-flower-appearing (acc.) => appearing like the bandhuka flower
  • पञ्च-मुण्ड-अधिवासिनीम् = five-skills-(throne)-occupant => occupier of the five-skulled throne
  • स्फुरत्-चन्द्रकला-रत्न-मुकुटाम् = shining-crescent-bejewel-crowned => one having the crown with a shining crescent and jewels
  • मुण्ड-मालिनीम् = skull-garlanded => one having skulls as a garland
She who is appearing like the bandhuka flower, occupying the throne of the five skulls, wearing a crown with jewels and the shining crescent and wearing a garland of skulls.

त्रिनेत्रां रक्तवसनां पीनोन्नतघटस्तनीम्।
  • त्रि-नेत्राम् = three-eyed => having three eyes
  • रक्त-वसनाम् = red-garmented => clad in red garments
  • पीन-उन्नत-घट-स्तनीम् = muscles-developed-(water pot)-breasted => having well-developed muscles and waterpot shaped breasts.
She who is having three eyes, clad in red-garments, having well-developed muscles and waterpot shaped breasts.

पुस्तकं चाक्षमालां च वरं चाभयकं क्रमात्।।
दधतीं संस्मरेन्नित्यमुत्तराम्नायमानिताम्।
  • पुस्तकम् = book
  • च = and
  • अक्ष-मालाम् = (rosary bead)-string => string of rosary beads
  • च = and
  • वरम् = boon?
  • च = and
  • अभयक = fear-removing?
  • क्रमात् = in order
  • दधतीम् = the person/thing (fem.) that is producing/generating
  • संस्मरेत् = may be remembered
  • नित्यम् = always
  • उत्तर-आम्नाय = uttaraamnaaya
  • मानिताम् = honoured
May she be remembered who is generating always in the order of the book, the rosary bead string, the boon and the fear-remover and is honoured as per the uttaraamnaaya.

या चण्डी मधुकैटभादि-दैत्यदलनी या माहिषोन्मूलिनी
या धूम्रेक्षनचण्डमुण्डमथनी या रक्तबीजाशनी।
शक्तिः शुम्भनिशुम्भदैत्यदलनी या सिद्धिदात्री परा
सा देवी नवकोटिमूर्तिसहिता मां पातु विश्वेश्वरी॥
  • या = Which/who
  • चण्डी = Chandi (Durga)
  • मधु-कैटभ-आदि-दैत्य-दलनी = Madhu-Kaitabha-etc-Daitya-crusher (fem.) => The one who crushed the daityas like madhu and kaitabha
  • महिष-उन्मूलिनी = buffalo-eradicator (fem.) => One who eradicated Mahishasura (buffalo-demon)
  • धूम्र-ईक्षण-चण्ड-मुण्ड-मथनी = Smoke-eyed-chanda-munda-churner (fem.) => The one who crushed dhumralochana (smoke-eyes), chanda and munda (3 Daityas)
  • रक्त-बीज-अशनी = blood-drop-taker => one who killed raktabeeja by drinking his blood
  • शक्तिः = the Shakti
  • शुम्भ-निशुम्भ-दैत्य-दलनी = The one who crushed the daityas, Shumbha and Nishumbha
  • या सिद्धि-दात्री परा = who is the giver-perfection excellent => who is the exceptional giver of perfection
  • सा देवी =  The goddess
  • नव-कोटि-मूर्ति-सहिता = nine-crore-forms-with => the one with nine crore forms
  • माम् = me
  • पातु = save
  • विश्व-ईश्वरी = world-goddess => goddess of the world
Save me Oh Chandi, goddess of the world, crusher of the daityas like madhu and kaitabha, eradictor of Mahishasura, who reduced to dust dhurmalochana, chanda and munda, consumer of raktabija, Shakti the most excellent giver of perfection, the goddess with nine crore forms.

विद्यावन्तं यशस्वन्तं लक्ष्मीवन्तञ्च मां कुरु । रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि ॥१७॥ विद्या-वन्तम् = education-endowed यशस्-वन्तम् = glory-endowed लक्ष्मी-वन्तम् = wealth-endowed च = and  माम् = me (acc.) कुरु = do रूपं देहि जयं देहि यशो देहि द्विषो जहि = Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies. O Devi, Please Make me Full with Knowledge, Please Make me Full with Glory and Please Make me Full with the attributes of Lakshmi (Beauty and Prosperity). O Devi, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Beauty, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Victory, Please Grant me (Spiritual) Glory and Please Destroy my (Inner) Enemies.
